With the diesel's ECU out, the pollen filter is easily maneuvered into position by entering it into the plenum at a 45 degree angle away from you. When it's in there, rotate it back to vertical and enter the lower lugs into the slots. This can be made easier by first cutting more off the corners of the lugs. The lower screen panel only needs removing part way across, say three poppers only. This is enough to allow you to withdraw the water shield.
