Default What I didn't do to my Rover 75 MGZT today

I played with an X5 E53 today

The man who this car belongs to a member on here Les (Shodan70) had an issue with his IKE (that's IPK to you and I)

He had had a BMW "specialist" look at repairing the missing pixels on the trip computer display (sound familiar), which had resulted in the total loss of his display.

So, not wishing to open up his second hand IKE, given that it cost about as much as I normally pay for a complete car, I set about it using the BMW scanner 1.4, normally used by us mere mortals for enabling message centre digital speedo.

Well all went swimmingly, I was able to sort out the ZCS coding mismatch by copying the EWS coding data from the EWS to the IKE, similarly I was able to replace the foreign VIN with the correct one

All I am left to do is figure out how to write the correct mileage to the eeprom, sadly like 75/ZT models, this appears to be in a secure area

Still it's not all bad, at least he doesn't need to purchase a new IKE, as they are..........now everyone sitting down......£890+coding

It certainly made a change from frabbling with Rover electronics for a change.

Incidentally, it was possible to change the SA data of the ZCS coding to reflect different factory options, of which there were many.

The conclusion, it's not quite a T4, but for £15 it was quite entertaining for me at least
