presumably,, generic parts would still be available to us diy'ers. And I'm surprised the extra cost using genuine parts is only £100/annum.

Well, we would have to see more detail on this when the EU publishes but from that "headline" I cannot see how the EU can force the UK into only allowing "franchised" outlets to do repairs or obtain parts. Only proves what I have said since the end of the 70's; If one can't be bothered to buy UK sourced products then you can't expect the RoW to do so. In other words, if we had an auto industry we wouldn't need to be bothered unduly by EU edicts.
