Apolgies for hijacking this thread, but I also have the CD autochanger in the glove box which has been there for the last 21 years. It may be the same Alpine model but I used it once to try it and it worked fine. I don't use any CDs or tapes or even the radio so it's never bothered me until today when trying to start the car (CDT) absolutely nothing. All was blank, no light flickering or anything, I had to use the key to open the door too.

Tried turning key a few times, still nothing, then I heard a noise from the glovebox. The changer was making a noise. I slid the 'door' open and pressed the blue button and the disc tray opened, slid back in and then it whirred 6 times checking for a disc. I then tried the ignition again. Success all lights on and engine started.

Why after so many years would it start to play up like that? Is there a simple way like a fuse or wire to disconnect to prevent it happening again?
Thanks, Ray.
