Quite possibly the disk drive is knackered, probably very old by this point. What I'd personally do is buy an external USB drive like this one
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ZenDrive-Ex...Q8W/ref=sr_1_9, Windows XP will read the disks from that as if it's the internal drive.
