quick update with this, i couldnt hear the noise over the wheel bearing, it was making a right racket!
anyway, shortly after my last post, i dropped the oil once more and refilled and from what i can tell, i seem to have incorrectly filled the gearbox
it needed another litre of so, and now its properly full its stopped making a noise.
ive now traveled 300 miles and is nice and smooth and working as it should so im happy for the time being
