My daily walk for a paper was to Tesco and back, total 3 miles. I pass a Spar shop 100 yards from my house but have always done the longer trip.
With the queues at Tesco round the block, and the price growth there, I have for the last three weeks used the Spar. When all this is over, I will continue with the Spar and find another block to walk around.
What a lovely family-run shop, just as it should be. Big bonus - no stupid lottery queues, no more trundling behind people who can't even stand up and use the trolley as a war chariot. I get bright smiles and polite greetings.
In Tesco I was lucky if the cashier looked up from the screen and I had to ask for a receipt. Yes even for a paper. I never leave there without a receipt for everything. I used to meet Jack Cohen regularly (the founder) many years ago when I was working for them. He would have been apoplectic at the customer service today. Not all of them, but one bad apple...
In case anybody asks, the subject is price growth scam in Supermarkets and the ensuing solution.
