Thanks for all the useful advice. I have found a Rover/MG specialist garage within about 10 miles of Reading and have booked the car in for Tuesday.They have the T4 diagnostic equipment and apparently a member of staff who has worked with Rover's all his working life. I will let you know next week what is diagnosed and what it will cost to put right.
I was interested in Chris's post about me being the longest length of ownership in the club. I bought the car new on April 28th 2000.It is the Club SE model and easily the best car I have ever owned.I usually hang on to cars for about 5 years but with Rover going out of business at about the 5 year stage I decided to keep it rather than take a massive financial clout.Really glad I did because it still looks a great design and is lovely to drive.
