I know two other people with these motors, and we all get 40-43mpg average. I always drive really gently – my last two cars were M3’s, and after them, it seems kinda pointless to try and get the poor Rover to go fast.

My driving is mostly “A” roads, occasional motorway, occasional in town.

My thermostat failed a few months ago, but I didn’t see any reason to fit a modified one – I got the standard unit replaced, and that brought the car back up to normal running temp (88 I think).
