i'm not sure you'd ever see the return, and as stated, the weight is too bad.
A good rule with electric cars I'd say is they are at their best when they are designed from the floorpan up to be such.
if you want one badly enough, get a cheap Ampera. Can't beat them for engineering in my view. Plus you never need worry about the range.
