have you got a set of Zeus charts and a Vernier calliper?
Sounds like they could be imperial if they are a nat's under 8mm. Then count the tpi of the screw (I found on very small screws, it was easier to take a photo of the thread against a ruler and then expand on the screen)
Bit of calculation should tell you what they are.
My best guess is that they are either 1/4" or 5/16" something or other.
I did wonder if they are BA, they 0BA is 6mm o/d so unlikely to be that.
