Morning all,

No rain here but it's not exactly Flaming June either

Ros and I are off to see our friend in the Nursing home in Suffolk this afternoon.
Might bake another cake this morning

Morning all, It's a cloudy day here but no rain forecast. Time for brekkie & the weekend fry up.
Morning Jeff, That ploughmans lunch looks Moorish.

Just got back from Corfu. Lovely holiday, great weather lovely people. Unfortunately, the money that pours into Corfu is being taken out of the Corfiotes pockets by the big businesses that operate there.

The small tavernas and localy owned apartments and hotels seem to be failing, financially and look very run down or have already closed ( no doubt due to "all inclusive" hotels). The youngsters who live there, mostly want to move away and the jobs are now being done by eastern european and african immigrants! The roads and infrastructure are dilapidated and falling apart (broken mains services, leaks and spilt rubbish!).

Our hotel was kept immaculate but the local village is looking very run down, with several other hotels there, closed or almost empty. So sad to see.

We have really felt our age on this trip, struggling with the steep hills, steps and trip hazards (that are everywhere!). Sadly, I think that we will not go back.

It's still a beautiful island but older folks need to be aware of the dangers!

That is sad to read.
Sounds a lot like home and probably just about everywhere with the global economy such as it is !

Hope your holiday was in the most part positive and you have some good memories if it is to be your last trip there.

Two cakes made this morning with Zed's assistance.

We have a no sugar lemon drizzle cake. A no sugar wholemeal cherry and almond loaf cake which is still baking as I type

Once the second cake is done we are off to Suffolk and I shall be letting the second cake rest .
