…. and the next question, is it available? Sounds like it could be useful as all I have is the Haynes manual and it only has limited wiring info.
Following Kevin’s reply, I have removed the carpet and a lot of the soundproofing is pretty soggy. I’ll get everything bone dry and check all the earth points though the old back is complaining a bit.. the carpet is surprisingly heavy! If nothing else, it’s kept me entertained for the last few months but hoping I get to drive it at some point! |

Continue with the drying-out work Howie, including any components affected by the water. Simon

Will do Simon, fortunately I’m not in any rush as the owner is waiting for a cataract operation. Sensors are in the boiler cupboard and carpet is draped across the bonnet of my Series 3. I’m hopeful, given Toaf didn’t throw any communication errors, the sensors will be ok and, at worst, I might have to get an ecu as these seem more readily available. Anyone have experience of swapping these with Toaf or is it plug ‘n’ play?

I’ve now sourced a replacement ECU from Rover Centre Shop in Lancashire (very prompt delivery and good price - can recommend) and swopped it over. I had to enable the ITS airbags using TOAF. It is now showing 5 faults - four are because the front seats are out so no airbags or pre-tensioners, but it is also showing a high resistance on the drivers airbag. I think this is progress! I’ll now refit the, now dried out, carpet and the seats. It’s given me the opportunity to get them cleaned with the Rug Doctor so they should be smelling sweet!
Time to start researching drivers airbag faults and I’m guessing I’ll have to open a new thread for the 999999 mileometer issue. |

Latest update…. I’ve now reinstalled the front seats (factory connectors) and the airbag light is out! Not sure what was causing the drivers airbag high resistance error but it seems to have vanished. Incidentally, I also added an interface cable to allow the steering wheel controls to work with the aftermarket stereo (Sony) and these are now working too so, I guess the clock spring must ok.
Thanks for all the advice! |
