Chris knows what he's doing with the V8s, he looked after mine before I brought it up to Scotland. Previous owner lived in the same town as Russ but because he was never a member here didn't know of his existence! I took it to Russ for a spare key and a general once over when I bought the car before heading north, that's when it objected to the T4 big style and ended up doing the "swap the window switches" trick, driver's window switch controls passenger window etc. Russ had to phone Brian who, after he'd finished laughing, told him how to sort things out which involved reconfiguring several modules!
I haven't heard of a V8 (other than the prototypes that still exist) that won't work with a T4 but they can be hit and miss. |

You don't need to go that far, just buy a code reader.

It will give you a code which you can easily check online.
Mine has had the dreaded 0443 code for a while now - EVAP valve circuit. Even cheap hand held obd readers are easy to use and allow you to erase the code - as mentioned disconnect battery for 15 minutes - not forgetting to allow sat nav if fitted to shut down before disconnecting. |

When I had my V8 the T4 could not communicate with the engine management, the rest of the car was fine. It was Ewans of Cornhill who was checking it and the guy on the T4 knew what he was doing and said was very common not to communicate with the engine

In order to get the Ford engine management system to work with the MGR electrics they had to create what (I think) they called a gateway module. That's what causes the problems with the T4 trying to read the engine.
