It only has to fit the hole and work to keep the car road worthy, the dash warning will clear (or be cleared) when the bright shinny new one is fitted.

That's what I thought, and I rarely have to drive at night anyway... then, a couple of days ago, a friend desperately need picked up from the airport at midnight, and I was half way out the door when I remembered - so poor girlfriend had to go, half asleep. After repeatedly hassling everybody from Vauxhall to the repair company, I got a semi-audible phone call from Hastings (apparently in South Africa) yesterday, telling me that the body shop has now got a light for me, and would be in touch immediately. Needless to say, they weren't - but fingers crossed they have actually got it... Puts the price of Rover parts in perspective, at something like £5-600 for A PAIR of headlights

Well… I have a new light. Only took 4-5 months but, after a lot of shouting at Vauxhall/main dealer/Hastings/the body shop, we got there – despite them all saying there were neither lights nor prospect of them.
And the cost… I managed to get the body shop to reveal this (they don’t, normally) for a little scuff on the front bumper and a new headlight… £3090. Buy yourselves all a nice new set of Rover clusters now
