Default Gear lever and handbrake gaitors

My 2006 75 diesel has suffered from progressive wear of the gear lever gaitor. A small split had appeared on the leatherette bag where it is folded at the base. I glued it but with some use the hole has opened up again.

When I removed the gaitor (with trim plate attached), it was clear that it was only a matter of time before further splits would appear along the folds.

I invested in these real leather items off Ebay.

I thought I'd take a punt for just over £20 (inc. posting), but I was very pleasantly surprised. These are high quality items that fit perfectly. The leather is thick and soft and the stitching looks identical. A piece of cake to fit. You just need to open up the star washers on the gear lever plate with a small screwdriver and lift them off the plastic pegs - do not force them as you will likely break the plastic pegs off.

Both just need a lick of contact adhesive to affix them to the frames. Take your time and you will end up with a really good fit.
