Default Looking for a cheap to buy road tax free option

....and open to suggestions.

We have a few pedigree sheep. occasionally we will have to transport 1, 2 or 3 to the market, vets ect. Dont want to put them in the Tourer and dont want to insure, MOT and tax the old Toyota Rav4 we use on our land.

So, looking for suggestions. Preferably, cheap to buy, tax free, cheap to insure, MOT free if that's possible and not a saloon.

Over to you guys. Knock your selves out.

EDIT: sensible suggestions please.

Audi A2 1.4 TDI. £30 a year tax, 60 mpg and removable rear seats on the 4 seater. Bigger boot that the A3... I swear by mine!

Thanks for that mate. Doesn't sound cheap to buy though. I was thinking cheap classic. Allegro estate, A40.

I think that's going to be a difficult circle to square. Cheap to run cars aren't normally very cheap to buy. What sort of budget?

I think the cheapest way is above put a towbar and trailer on your tourer.

Cheers, Topman and Animal. Yes, towbar and trailer is the obvious solution but less interesting than a small cheap classic. SWMBO isn't interested in classics or cars in general for that matter, but put this way.......

An old Massey Ferguson tractor and a small trailer, run it on red diesel too from your farm.
Ken.

20 mile round trip to vets. 50 mile round trip to auction. 70 mile round trip to abattoir. I don't have enough life left to spend it sitting on a TE20 tractor. lol

Not Sure what would be available, but to not need an MOT it has to be pre 1960, and Tax Exemption has just changed, it was pre 72 but not its 40 years rolling (Like it used to be, but that was 25 years), so you'd be looking at pre 75.

Obviously you will need something reliable, as a trip to the vets can be sometimes crucial, so unfortunately to meet 2 of your requirements, I doubt it would come cheap.

Not to mention, classics aint exactly frugal to run
