Double Din Fascia.
Heres a few Pictures , taken during my Mods of a Harmony Front panel to a Double Din. for the ZT..
I've painted it presently with Rover Amethyst, which is closeish to the Rhodium dash, but might redo it with the Matt dark grey to match the Aircon control panel , or I might do that Amethyst??.. got to get it right ? I couldn't get our local paint supplier to get any interest in a colouring match with the ZT dash bits.. seemed too busy ? might try again soon . Just after finished the fascia , I won a Double din unit , by bad Ebay bid management , i left a low bid on .. , and no one else bid .I so ended up with a sightly different spec to that I wanted. Doh!!. But It came really quick, was pretty Cheap . works well... but the fascia was a 2mm too wide.. so had to hack the fascia out a bit and repaint it again ..hmm!! C.

Looking forward to seeing the head unit in action.
I'm on the look out for one but half the time they low cost ones are very low on quality.

Double Din install probs
Just a warning to all... Check carefully the dimensions of the unit before you buy..
The unit i've bought is just over 180mm deep so this probably not going to fit my ZT dash.. I've taken out the IR control box, and still its not quite there. And my modded Harmony fascia is more shallow than the BMW one you can buy. Off to double check again. The Xtrons unit used by Trebor is listed as 15mm shorter , its that close, and you still need to plug in phono 's at the back , even chopping out the fibre at the back of the dash only gains 6mm or so . And to top it all , now the ZT is back, the fasica paint is a shade to dark, thats what happens when you colour match in the shop under fluorescent lighting. Ho hum!!. take care all Chris

Good advice to check all sizes as i didnt but got away with it, as said above i used the Xtrons face off double din unit and first problem was it was too big for my expensive £70-£80 BMW facia, i was reluctant to cut the facia but having got as far as buying everything i had no choice but to cut off the top bar of the facia to make it fit, luckily you cannot see that the facia now only has 3 sides as the eyebrow covers the top nicely. As far as fitting the unit in the available space is concerned it is extremely tight, and i had to remove the plastic fibre at the back which covers a length of horizontal steel fixing which i then used as my anchor points, the wires and there are lots of them are then draped underneath ther unit which gives easy access via removal of the ATC panel only and not the unit itself, turned out well in the end and well worth doing though. Another issue is that you cannot let the unit rest on the bottom of the facia either as the face flips to allow card entry so you have to work in a slight gap all the way round. If you look at the picture below you should just be able to make out where i had to cut the facia at the top near the eyebrow. The only thing i havent done yet is been able to change the splash screen to something else, presumably it is relatively easy to do on the more expensive units but i dont know a way of getting at the files inside. There is a usb connection on the unit and just out of interest i plugged my laptop into it to see if it would open as another drive and allow me to view the files but no such luck, there maybe another USB inside the unit but i am reluctant to remove it again now just for a splash screen, would be nice though.

Looks good. You will probably need to enable remote sync on the unit as it will most likely be disabled in the registry. A great tool for playing with the registry is CEREGEDITOR as it does not require the device to be synced before you can edit it.
Also some units won't enable sync at all and you have to run a program off a CD to enable it.

I intended to go the normal Radio type fit route,
I.E Fit fascia. fit a shell, slide in Unit , but looks lile that It can't be done that way , esp. with the weight if these Double dins. I see your ( trebors) unit is set back behind the fascia. So I'm now going to mount the unit as best, ( far back ) as I can and then see if the fasica can be added after , this will mean hacking it about again. I have to remake the bottom fixings anyways as I went a dremel happy at the start Back soon with more info/problems.. take care All Chris
