I have noticed a problem the last couple of days with my 75 cdt ever since i have had the car it has ticked over at 700rpm now all of a sudden when i am coming to a stop and put my foot on the brake and clutch the rpm drops to about 600rpm and it feels like it is about to stall but it doesn't and when i stop all together it slowly goes back up to 700rpm has anyone got any ideas

Someone with better knowledge than me may shoot me down in flames but IIRC (from a previous problem), the clutch switch does something to the revs when depressed. Perhaps a good place to start.

You are entirely correct Mick.
On the CDT(i)'s the clutch switch, when depressed, slightly drops the revs in anticipation of a gear change to help smooth the overall change. My bet is the switch is perhaps sticking slightly or maybe even popped out of it's housing. Takes a bit of contortioning and twisting to get up into the area it is located but with any look it should be a simple task to either repair/replace and hopefully it should sort out your funny rev-dropping. |
