1.8t top radiator hose wants to keep coming off
As per the title, the top radiator coolant hose on my 1.8t keeps slipping back on the radiator elbow and has several times come very close to blowing off.
I've tried several different jubilee clips, the latest being quite a substantial one which I daren't do any tighter for risk of cracking the plastic elbow, but I've just given the car a quick run and it has already slipped back by about 3mm. Any ideas? Could the cooling system be over pressurising? The hose does seem to have swollen to some degree. |

Your hose should not be moving, blowing off or swelling Neil; you have a problem there that needs urgent attention. Those symptoms are not usually associated with an overheating cooling system.
I don't have experience of your engine but I know that the turbo is water cooled. If you start the engine from cold with the expansion tank cap removed, is there any sign of pressurisation? Are there any bubbles in the coolant? Hopefully a 1.8t owner will be along soon with better advice. Simon
