My MG ZT-T- The Never ending saga (ECU, starter, relays)
I have owned my MG ZT for about a year now and havn't had any problems. I have had a new company car and the poor MG has been made redundent! I had it up for sale, and the deal fell through, so it has been parked up for a while.
I recently went to start it and when I turned the key, there was a strange noise coming from the engine. Turns out the starter was pushing the drive pinon(?) out, but not turning, so we shorted it out. Now it would only start when a screwdriver was in there! We left it to work on later and today we have had loads of problems. We have two relays, one under the bonnet, one under the glove compartment clicking and vibrating when you try to start it. Also, every now and again when you try to start it you get the "Engine Disabled" light on. What would be helpful is a diagram showing which relays do what, but I can't find one anywhere! I can provide pics if neccesarry. Thanks, Matt |

Thanks for your help, the battery has been charging on a charger for ages, and when I rig up the battery from the other car it still does the same.
Any ideas why the relays would be clicking? |

Tryt putting it in second gear and rocking it back & fort a couple of times, then back into neutral and start it.

Obviously spoken with the wisdom of a long standing owner of an MG?!! or another BMC/Leyland product.
However I don't think this is the problem in this case. If the gears where jammed, it would not start when a screwdriver was used. I wonder if it might no be a relay. |

Would it be an idea to try and get some new relays? Can anyone tell me where the ECU is so I can check for damp ect.?
