Default How often do you boys wax?

Well take it how you please

But seriously I have just clayed and polished and waxed my baby and she looks absolutely fantastic.

How often do you think I should re-wax and what are the benefits and drawbacks of waxing regularly?

Surely if the wax is at a good level then I won't need to clay and polish so often!

Your wise advice as always eagerly awaited

Personally I generally re-wax my car every two or three months. Weekly cleans are usually followed by some quick-detailer spray which helps to keep the protection on-going.

Generally when you start to see the beading effect diminish from the wax is the time to reapply the wax.

It varies a lot according to which wax you use, and whether you put several coats on.

Simon's spot on, but if you use a couple of coats of Collinite wax that'll last much longer before you need to add more wax than if you use a single coat of something like Meguiars liquid stuff. Possibly not the 12 months that Collinite claim, but certainly there'll be a very big difference.

It's also good to make sure you're using shampoo at the recommended dilution when you wash, as stronger wash solutions will strip the wax. I used to use loads of shampoo before I realised that, and then wondered why my wax never seemed to last

I tend to wax monthly, been using Collonite this year, but going back to Natty's Blue when my supply is used up.

I do mine every few months and it seems to keep quite well.

Never thought of that as I do use a shampoo and probably do just as you are saying. I always go on the beading, hate not having that. Just wondered if it was worth putting several coats of wax on.

Cheers guys helpful as usual

Sure is, although anything more than maybe 3 is overkill.

And if you give it a spray of Last Touch or similar (~£19 for over 7 litres once diluted, which will last aaaaages) after each subsequent wash, the beading will last much better.

And of course pictures of your handiwork wouldn't go amiss

Cheers again guys, not very good with the pics side of things, but will try, the car looks fantastic though. I thought that it looked good before, but now looks really shiny, a nice deep shine
