Default Scanguage II......Alternative to Hans Gauge?

As it appears the famous Hans Gauge is no longer available, I'd really like a viable alternative. I know I can use the IPK trip to show the temp but it's a pain having to scroll through the menus and also I lose the outside temp & trip displays.

1.Does the ScanguageII display the correct temperature and once set to this display does it automatically show this each time on start-up or do you have to scroll through.
2. Does it work successfully on a '53 plate 1.8T?
3. Is it practical to leave the cable plugged into the OBDII port semi-permanently?
4. Are the other features useful & do they work OK?
5.Is there any other alternative device?

I too have been trying to get one of Hans gauges.

If an alternative comes up let us know.

has hans posted that the gauges will no longer be made ? if not then i would of thought keep emailing him might get you one ...
i must say the hans gauge gives you so much confidence in the 1800 t that you justget in and go knowing that if fan dont come on you will be able to turen it on yourself . i know the dash thingy does it but you have to do it every time you get in the car ...

It reads the temperature through the OBD2 port, mine seems to be accurate. Once you have decided which items to monitor in the 4 windows, it monitors them all the time until you reset it to look at something else. Mine looks at engine temp, air intake temp, speed and battery volts at the moment.

It works fine on my 03 plate derv so I see no reason why it shouldn't work on your car.

Mine only comes out to plug T4 in.

Can't remember, everything seems to work, or everything I've tried seems to work.

On the other side of the ODB socket are bare wires - you can easily hardwire something in if you want.

We have some very clever people (electronically) on this forum.

Could the Hans gauge be reproduced by others?

With Hans permission of course

1. yes
2.it should work fine on most petrol 75/ZT on pre 2004 diesel it may not display all data mine is a 2003 car 03 plate 2004 model year pre facelift it shows some data ( from memory)speed intake temp coolant temp map rpm maybe a few more it will not scan or reset error codes though
3 yes
4 scanning and resetting of error codes and lots of other stuff on obd2/eobd compliant cars that's most K series and the last Diesels probably facelift cars
5 don't know but I've had a scanguage on our TF for couple of years and it is brilliant especially peace of mind watching actual coolant temp, as you will gather I also occasionally hook it up to the ZT

I have a scan gauge on another car so I can test it out on my 2003 diesel and see if it does what you want
