Operation, meet the street
I was quite upset this morning, watching this program on BBC1 this morning, presented by James Martin. It was about several people living alone in a street, in Barrow-in-Furness. Survivors of a marriage, or where a parent they had looked after has passed on. People with no visitors, no social life and who so rarely go out. Some who simply lacked the courage to take life by the horns, others who where disabled.
Why, because I earlier in the year had a brief dose of this loneliness after my partner of 35 years passed away. I was lucky, I took the bull by the horns, picked myself up, dusted myself off and got on with my life. It took no small amount of courage to do that, so I can understand the reluctance of people like that.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money. |
