Default Clutch change coming up

Hi guys
My clutch is coming to the end of its life.
My local garage say they're willing to change it, but can't quote, as they've never done one on a ZT or 75 CDTi before.
Could anyone give me a ballpark figure for how many chargeable hours they should be aiming for please?
Or better still, the name of a decent garage in Cornwall that has done the job before?
Many thanks
Martin

The average price for doing a clutch around my neck of the woods seems to be £240 plus parts and plus vat of course.

I fear it’ll cost you a lot more than that. The trouble with these cars is that, when BMW put their nice M47 diesel engine in, they converted it from rear to front wheel drive (Why would anybody do that? With any engine? On any car? Ever?) and it doesn't fit, really.

This means that the clutch is inaccessible – some on this forum have estimated 9 hours’ labour to change it. I was recently charged £600 for clutch and both cylinders…

But don't worry, you should get 3 months out of a new clutch on a 75 diesel, easy…

£700 to £750 is a reasonable figure for a replacement using quality components including cltuch, master, slave and fitting.

£373 fitted incl slave cylinder.
Company is in Midlands though just off M5.
Might be worth a day out though if you are getting quotes of £950 to £1200 like I was...

Don't fear that is exactly what it cost me.

If you can get it done for that, worth driving a long way!

I think the quote you get depends on the garage's expertise and therefore the labour charge . Last year I paid £405 for LUK clutch and slave at our local "Clutch and gearbox centre" , a small 3-man band outfit but very experienced . I think the key to the low price was that I dropped it off at 08.30 and got a call at 13.00 to pick it up !

I’m getting a bit out of my depth here, but I suspect it may not be such a horrible job on the V6?
