Not everyone knows..
about the 75/ZT club.
I came out of a shop in Cleethorpes today and there was a White Gold '75 parked right out side the door with a guy sitting in it, drivers door ajar. I seized the opportunity to have a word. Apparently he lives nearby in Holton Le Clay and had never heard of the 75/ZT Owners Club. His car was in nice nick and it was a 1.8 Turbo. He's had it 8 years and had the HG done soon after buying it along with a few other jobs he termed 'had been caused by neglect of previous owner'. Always been a good runner over the 8 years. I told him about my car and he said he was on 'tinternet' so I gave him club details and told him about all the advantages. He said he'd have a look. Anyway, I found it an interesting few minutes spent.

I saw a car going around Brighton with a club sticker in the back window and presumed he was a member until I talked to him in the supermarket car park and he said he didn't know anything about it, it came with the car!

I see the same ones parked around town but have never seen their owners except one. He had a beautiful British Racing Green 75 in excellent condition with a sandstone interior.
However, I didnt speak to him as he looked like Grumpys moody cousin

I think that those owners who always have their servicing etc. done by "their regular", whether that be a diy'r or a garage, will never have had the need as most of us originally to plead for help. Once in though, one discovers the Club values themselves and tend to stay.

I have though it would be a good idea if members received some flyers in their membership packs to keep in the car to give to people we meet. It would be a good advertisement for the club. Ali.

good idea..
I passed a fab looking facelift ZT towing a huge trailer today on my way north - I gave him a wave as I passed him, and noticed him looking at my tourers rear window.. maybe he had noticed the club sticker? or maybe the just pile of NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- piled up in the boot.. you never know.. but club flyers would be good.. will see if I can find any links to a flyer this week as going to a car show this weekend.. |
