Default Coiled wire 'mares nest' under bonnet. ZT V6.

MGZ 180 auto 2004, a recent purchase. I can see ( I'm laying on my stomach at the front of the car and looking through the mesh on extreme nearside front) a bundle of spiral wire still with some plastic covering- its about 4" (100mm) diameter. Anyone know or have any ideas what this might be? Is there a schematic/ "see through" of the car anywhere that might help. I'm thinking part of the ventilation or trunking into the bottom of the air filter. Thanks for your time. Chris Sankey.

It will be the remains of the shannon tube (air intake to air filter box). New improved ones available from Jules on here or you can purchase silicon ducting on the bay of fleas.

Here's a photo from Capese21 showng a typical Shannon tube after a few years (not many actually):

And HowTo fix it (the V6/180 needs the 70mm duting):

Ducting (500mm should do, 1metre is ample): http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_od...+70mm&_sacat=0

Took a risk driving through 2 foot of flood water a couple of days back. Only risked it because I'd fitted one of Jules' shannon tubes 18 months previously very soon after buying the car. Only noticeable downside afterwards was the lower air intake in front of the power steering cooling pipes was blocked by leaves that were obviously in the flood water. Brakes didn't work at first, though.

Advice to mileshawk - do it soon. Not difficult, especially if you take the front off and check the fan at the same time.

If you need a hand to do it, I'm in Reading too and I've just done mine today, just pm me and we can sort it out.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful replies, I have ordered my silicone tubing and will hopefully fit it soon as. Nit parky at the moment, think I will see if my son in law will give me a bit a garage space to do the job- thanks for the offer "shasbat3". Chris S.
