Purge Control Valve
I have just changed the purge valve on my 1.8, as it was creating a tapping noise. However after 4 days I have noticed that the same tapping noise is coming from the PCV. Could this be a faulty one i received from Rimmers or is there anything else I need to have done to the surrounding pipes when i changed the old one? It is not as constant as before but equally annoying. Alternatively is it not the PCV and something completely different?

I guess you mean the waste vapour fuel recycle valve? It's attached to the side of the battery box in the 1.8. If so, it's a solenoid operated valve which pulses in tune with tickover. It does make a loud tapping noise when operating. It does this as required, when the engine's hot and ticking over. I call it the 'slack tappet simulator' and the noise is normal. If that's what you bought, I fear you wasted your money.
