Default Retro fit xenons - arguments for?

Had a debate (to put it politely) on the legality of HID kits in projector headlights on a MB forum, some guy posted this
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html
as a unequivocal argument against fitting them, do any of you have opinions on these findings as I think HIDS are fine in projector headlights.

Well many pass the light test so that makes that beam pattern comment redundant and the fact a member actually emailed vosa about retrofitting them into projectors and the reply basically said if standard fit they must be auto levelling have powerwash etc. But that's only for standard fit

Yeah I have searched and also posted that very email but the members of the MB forum remain steadfast in their original assessment. VOSA and the MOT regs do nothing to convince them.

Section 1 of the MOT inspection manual states the following:

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam
headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system. Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.

Headlamp washers may work in conjunction with the windscreen washers (when
the dipped beam headlamps are switched on) or by a separate switch.

You may find this information in the MOT inspection manual by following the
link provided http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4i00000101.htm

I hope this information has assisted you with your enquiry, but if you have
any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Yeah tried that but their argument is that an MOT does not make it road legal, not really fussed about their responses just wanted to shut them up you know...?
