Default Windows 7

Has anybody got a windows 7 discs with key that they are willing to lend me ?

Went to windows 10........but don't like it. Stuff not working.

But it won't let me go back

And according to the tech bods......the files needed to go back and not on my computer like they should be

So I want to re install 7.

If you upgraded (rather than doing a clean install) you can uninstall Windows 10 and drop back to Windows 7 within 30 days

a. Type Settings in search bar and click it
b. Click Update & Security
c. Click Recovery and then click Get started tab under the category which says Go back to previous OS and follow the instructions

Just out of interest, what doesn't work?

tried that........won't work.

Contacted Windows Techs to see why...........they say that the files that are supposed to be kept.....so you can go back..........are not there. And they don't know why.

They won't put me back either as I have no product key for when I installed windows 7 in the first place and they dont sell it anymore.

Was Windows 7 already on the machine when you bought it? If so there will be an OEM key in the ROM and possibly on a sticker on the bottom of the machine.

If it is a known manufacturer, you may be able to get an ISO from them of the original installation disks if you don't still have them, then you can re-install without the need for the OEM key.

I had a set of installation disks for HP machines somewhere, though they were 'keyed' to the model range. A lot of manufacturers had hidden partitions with the installation software on them.

The files should be in a Windows.old folder on the root of the C drive, sometimes people delete this but it has also been known that Windows 10 does the installation and not copy the old setup if the disk is low on space.

As an example, out of your hard drive space, Win 10 will take up around 3GB to 4GB for the installation files, then for Windows.old to be created there needs to be enough room for your old Windows folder, program files and user directories, if not, there will be no backup folder created.

Loads of Windows 7 for sale on Amazon. If I knew what I was doing I'd buy one and install it because I think Windows 10 is the pits!

This is just one example -
