Default Turbo troubles

My CDT has been down on power a bit recently, and under full load, there seems to be the sound of rushing gasses from behind the dashboard.

Would this likely be the rubber elbow from the turbocharger? If so, how the hell are you supposed to change or inspect it???

On an unrelated note, I have fitted a walnut dash today, but did not collect the airbag cover. (Doh!) Athough the colour is a good match, the airbag cover appears to sit proud of everything else! Are the ones from earlier cars a bit thinner or something?

Is your car blowing black smoke under boost? The rubber boost pipe swells over time and can develop splits, that would explain your symptoms. Most likely issue is the rubber seals on the plastic elbow on the bottom of the rubber pipe that's fits into the intercooler. Removing the pipe is relatively easy, just 2 jubilee clips. Once you have that off check for splits then check the seals. There are "how too's" on here if your not mechanically minded. Lee.

Have you checked that the exhaust manifold to EGR valve pipe is intact? That makes a healthy whooshing noise when it breaks, and drops power considerably. If it's bypassed, make sure the blanking plate is correctly seated on the manifold.
