Clutch Replacement - A1 Clutches Birmingham
After reading on this site about the warning of when the clutch pedal gets heavy then start saving for a new clutch, I thought no mine feels fine......
We are booked to go away in two weeks time, towing a small camping trailer. While driving to work I thought I'm sure the clutch slipped then! I tried to make it slip but couldn't. Very strange, but found it would slip once the revs were over 2000. I contacted AndiWilli, but was initially told be was booked up for the month..... ho hum. I found this company A1 Clutches. I checked reviews and found other people from the club had used them and were happy. I booked the car to have a three piece clutch fitted. Dropped the car off at the Birmingham Garage at about 8.30am and it was finished by 2.00pm. The car has to be returned at 500 miles, 3000 miles, 6000 miles and 12000 miles for a check over and to maintain the 18,000 or two year warranty. Total £343.00 - seems good to me and the clutch feels great ( I did stall it when I collected the car lol ). http://www.a1-clutches.co.uk/ The only down side is that Andy came back to me and said he could do the clutch, but it was already in being done. I would prefer to support the club traders but A1 Clutches did the job well.

Glad it is sorted. I can't say I have heard of this company, but if they have done a good job, then that is what matters.

At that low price, I would be concerned about the quality of the parts used. A good quality clutch kit with an OEM or metal slave costs about 200 pounds - that does not leave much for the labour component.
I hope it all works out for you, and that the components they fitted last well ! Pete |

I understand what peeps are saying, but if they give a 2 year warranty and willing to check in intervals they must be confident in their work

Do they still fill the gearboxes with ATF instead of MTF94?

Oddly enough, I've got an invoice from them with the paperwork for the tourer,
Remove gearbox, strip and replace 2nd gear synchro the grand total .... £711.60 and they didn't even change the slave for that !!!
