Relocating low-line sat-nav controls?
So I'm pleasantly surprised with how well the low-line sat-nav works, but I'd quite like to replace the radio with an after-market unit.. Is it possible to simply unclip the controls from the radio, relocate them to somewhere else, then replace the radio with something nicer and hook up the 6CD Changer to the new head unit? I've seen the same radio without the sat-nav controls, so I thought it followed that the must just clip into the head unit somehow when it was requested as an option, or a blanking plate put in if it wasn't?
Thanks in advance! |

No one at all had has any experience with this one..? I guess the low-line sat-nav wasn't a popular option? It's really not bad though, just wish it had a postcode search function!

Yes the low line controls clip into the symphony head unit. I guess you could relocate them, although I'm not sure where. The CD changer will be made by Alpine so you will need to ensure that it will function with a replacement head unit.

Cheers for that, Neil - Just what I wanted to hear!
I have a rather swish DVD head unit that's been sitting in a cupboard at home for 6 months, which I can now merrily fit into my R75! I just didn't want it to be at the expense of my Sat-Nav and CD changer.. Most appreciated.. |

The Low Line sat nav unit takes some voltages from the Symphony head unit.
The button illumination for the Low Line unit reqs 9v DC. So it may work ok but will not light up. Dave T |

Ah, does that mean I can't remove the symphony without a world of trouble? That's a bit rubbish.. I mean, who has a tape deck these days, honestly..

The CD changer, although made by Alpine, is 'Roverised' to work with the Symphony and Harmony units and uses the K-Bus to communicate with them. To use it with a different unit needs an interface to allow them to work together. |
