Default AX53 Reg Cars

Hi guys.

Some of you may know there has been a bit of a discussion about the large number of similar spec cars (CDTi Connie SE saloons with 16" Union Alloys) that seem to have appeared all on the same area number plate, specifically AX53.

My car is a Feb 04 AX53 as is Scooterchicks and Stubies. We found another one at the SARR meet in May this year as well.

I believe there must have been a batch of late Mk 1's (my car's VIN is about 800 before the facelift starts) sold as a "job lot" to one dealer group, however no-one has yet confirmed this.

Well, I found another 2 AX53 CDTi Connie SE's in White Gold tonight.

AX53 VFM

and

AX53 VUN

Anyone able to shed some light on this?

Derek

It's an Ipswich area reg code & I still suspect they may have been on a lease company fleet as we used to deal with a leasing company (on the truck side) who were based there can't remember who it was though There's an awful lot of early facelifts on AX plates aswell & our local dealer seemed to sell a good few S/H 75s on AX plates & the Firefrost Conn SE I nearly bought 3 years ago was AX54

Hi Col,

You might be right although as I am 3rd owner the original owner is not shown on my V5 to check, just adding to the mystery.

They do all seem to be simmilar spec though, in either Starlight Silver or White Gold with 16" Unions. Seems odd that's all...... (I think Stubie's has different wheels although I don't know whether he changed them or not?).

I know Stubie has changed his wheels as he had Serpents on it at one point before fitting the Meteors hes got on it at the moment. The Serpents wern't the original wheels either.

Most of the AX plates Lion garage sold were silver but there was 2 Firefrosts & I still see them knocking about locally, also one of the cars you found for me was an AX (wedgewood blue iirc)

Thanks for that Lewis, I felt they were not original, probably changed when he 1st added the facelift nose. I do like Meteors & Serpents. I would not be surprised if the original wheels were Unions then?
