Default Please Help

Went to start the car this morning and all I’m getting is a beep. Then tried to open the bonnet and the release does nothing.

At the end of my tether.

Don't keep trying to start it, if the battery is low you can end up knocking the key transponder and car immobiliser codes out of sync.

Bonnet opening info is available to subscribed members, as a non subscribed member your best bet is to PM a moderator.

Once you've opened the bonnet, disconnect the battery and give it a charge for 24 hours before attempting to restart the car.

Thanks, so the cause could just be a low battery? Just got to get at the thing now.

Where can I find a list of the Mods for someone to PM.

Go back to the main index page and scroll to bottom - shows who is logged in and the moderators are in green.

Thanks for the heads up guys, Pete sent me the instructions, will be giving it a go in the morning. Fingers crossed I can get in without having to do any damage.

I couldn’t believe it when I went to open the bonnet and it didn’t play ball, just what you need when the car won’t start

The half moons to which Steve refers are the semi circle latches on the slam panel, which move in and out when pulling the lever Simon 😎

Ah thanks Ron, as indicated by the screwdriver tip in Steve's final photograph!

Anything which moves in and out when pulling the lever requires greasing in my view.

Hi Ron.
Spot on i have just finished sorting out my spare latches and bonnet strikers.

Only grease to be found is inside the latch, as in the photos below.

1

Silicone spray only on the spigot and springs.
