It's only a car............you'd have a different opinion if it was a 3-series or a Mondeo

If you DONT want to know anything about cars, watch Top Gear. They think the sun shines out of the exhausts of german cars. I know better. Today - dead Audi TT and a Volkswagen by the side of the road. May have mentioned it before but most cars stopped on the road seem to be German!

The trouble with that program is too many people take it too seriously, it's not about consumer advice anymore, that was the old Chris Goffey/William Woolard days, it was dying on it's feet so was reinvented as a light entertainment program based around cars

To be 100% honest ive stoped watching the show, even the repeats. There is no originality in the show. My heavily father was involved in the Belfast / Twingo episode.

The production team was so affaid of someone locally bantering him (he sarky comments wouldnt stand to long in NI, as sarcasm is a way of life here in the same way as breathing) they kept an exclusion zone of two hundred yards from him.

Morning all and a Happy New Year.

Do like Top Gear i must say, one of my favourite programmes on TV. Really enjoyed the 2 that were on over Christmas. Was hoping a couple of years back when they were introducing a 'new member' to the team that it was going to be Sabine Schmitz instead of the stunt man that only seemed to last for a few episodes. Think that move may have kept the viewing figures up a bit more!!! Loved the way she chucked that Transit round the 'ring' in the 40th Transit birthday tribute show.

Anyhow, back to the original post. Not having seen the video at this point, i cannot comment, but one that did make me 'wince' the other week was the 51 plate 75 that was side swiped by a Discovery in the last episode of Frost. Yes, as commented earlier, it is only a car i know, but they could have used an Omega or something else along those lines perhaps?

Don't like to see any MG / Rover die, sad or what!!

Regards,

Dave.

I think as everyone says it really has to taken with a very very large dose (rather than a pinch) of salt.

I'm not sure why they keep trying to "sell" the danger side of the stories as entertainment but I guess it keeps the younger element of the viewer base hooked.

A good example was when they got "lost" in the back streets of Iraq but had somehow managed to get three or four of their cameras in situ for some cracking drive by shots as they crawled through

Or maybe it's just me being a bah humbug.......
