Engine Fuse box

I am putting in a heavy duty (6/8mm) power cable through to the Boot for towing/charging purposes, and maybe others, plus a smaller control wire (0.75-1.5mm).

It looks like the fuse in the engine bay box for the glow plugs (Mine is KV6) is a good contender, or the one that has two opposing arrows at the rear of a car symbol (what ever that is??), BUT where do you get the fuses apart from buying a complete box?

Do you think I am asking for trouble just by connecting the wire to the fuse holder (fused side) from the top without removing the panel and connecting underneath ?- there is plenty of room, but concerned I may be powering up something else!

Also I am looking for a suitable ignition activated connection for the control wire - any suggestions?

Look behind the passenger fuse panel for a connector with a 4mm Orange/Slate cable, a 0.75mm Light Green/Pink cable and a 0.5mm Green cable, they are used by the OE towing kit.

The Orange/Slate is a 50amp battery feed from fusible link 11 in the engine compartment fuse panel, the Light Green/Pink is an ignition feed from fuse 35 in the passenger fuse pane.

You won't need the Green cable, it is used in the OE kit to connect to the LSM.

The Orange/Slate is powered all of the time - so the usual way to use this to charge the caravan battery/ run the fridge is via a voltage sensing relay. When the engine is running the relay will close as the voltage rises and open when the engine is stopped. They are around £15 from car accessory shops.

I will look for these cables/connectors.
I have the voltage sensing relay so it is only closed when the alternator/battery voltage is adequate, so I am on track there.
These cables, I take it, are terminating at the fuse box, I still have to lay in a cable to the boot?

They are usually loosly taped to the loom behind the fuse panel, you will need to lay in the cables from there to the boot.
