Default Newest Head Unit with TMC and RDS in testing in UK

For those of you that have ordered and those that are thinking about ordering , we have the test unit installed at Tony Fry in Greenhithe and Tony says it seems to have better radio reception. We have decided to move it to Rotherham to another customer for further testing. ripwinder will be receiving it shortly. If Tony sees this thread , I will ask him to comment on his findings. But it looks encouraging, Everything else also seems to be as was, EXCELLENT !
Then we will release to production and get everyones orders shipped !

Cheers

Sean

Yes, I have had the "tester" unit running for a couple of days now, and it does seem to have improved on the radio recipton.

I am going to send it on today for further testing by another member to see if he gets any improvment with the signal.

What would you say is a good ETA on orders being shipped as I'm in the market for a new head unit at the moment?

Hi Wes, I am sure Sean will be able to give you a full answer, but I know he is out of the office for a few hours today.

Depending on which unit you require I.E RDS/TMC or just RDS (Sean is selling some 2nd hand units right now) the delivery will be appox 2-3 weeks as the Chinese are on there "New Years" holiday until the 10th Of Feb.

If they are as good as you say it'll be worth the wait (I've only got the original Radio Cassette unit at the moment ) Can it use Garmin maps as well as TomTom?

Hi Wes

I know TomTom will not run on the TMC unit which run's on WinCe 6 (cutdown version of Windows), so no to TomTom, I will have to do a few checks on Garmin, to see if it will work, but they do not use the TMC so it pointless getting the TMC unit you will fing IGO8 Or Primo, runs fine on Seans D.D unit, I would holy recommend this software, and I am sure there are a number of other members who has brought the unit will support me on that.

Sean, do you have details of the modifications made to these new units with better reception? Is this something that can be retrofitted to us with older models with reception issues? How are the new units dealing with twin aerial inputs for radio and TMC?

Cheers,
Rich

any more updates on the 2nd test, not trying to be pushy but i sold my old DD to get the new one and i am having severe withdrawal symptoms, the sooner it arrives the better, especially with the aerial booster that Markuk has sorted, who cares about radio issues any more , we all now we will need one of these anyway, it's not as if we are buying a Pioneer here, always, ALWAYS loved Pioneer units
