Default Itis

More info required.
I have looked up NAVTEQ site and it gives two versions of the discs appertaining to GB & Northern Ireland. One has ITIS and the other hasn't.
The ITIS one states that TMC is the nerve centre of the ITIS system.
Does this mean that it will be compatible with the Hi-Line system and will operate the TMC on my unit or will it make it null and void? [TMC INOPERABLE].
One final point does the NATEQ disc operate the 7 digit post code system?
Regards
Rob

Default Itis

Whoops --Sorry as I understand it this system only applies to the far east.
Is it not available in the UK? If not why advertise it on a UK&N.I., disc.
Or have I missed the point?

This facility is only available of the MK4 DVD Sat Nav Receiver, when updated,
not on any of the CD versions MK1/MK2 or MK3 I'm afraid.

TMC has been withdrawn on Discs for the UK by Navteq and VDO Dayton is also abandoning it.

Hi Rob,

take a look at this thread I compiled on the subject a while back.

http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=4356

JonDotCom may well be correct about VDO/Dayton planning on withdrawing the TMC codes on future disc releases (I have no knowledge of this), but providing you have a Mark III Sat Nav Drive, and can get hold of an Itis mapping disc with TMC codes on, then it will work.

Also, these discs, although not providing full 7 digit post code search, do allow partial post code up to 5 digits, which I find perfectly adequate in my mark III high-line system.

Hope that helps you.

These companies dropping TMC are a pain,
they state Cost and space,
If its space cut back on some of the POI's, TMC much more useful.
Info of VDO/Dayton dropping TMC is on their Trade leaflet I get with discs.

Sorry forgot to mention up to 5 digit search on MK3 models.

John,

A friend telephoned Navteq yesterday and was told that the 2009-10 ITIS encoded CD for the 75/ZT is still available for purchase. So TMC isn't dead yet!

Simon.

Ah, they should only be selling the 2010 disc now which doesn't have it on.
Perhaps continuing to sell the out of date maps because of this.
Bet they didn't reduce the price though.

John,

Ah, you're assuming that the annual releases correspond with the calendar year! Apparently Navteq says that the 2010-11 discs are available from June. I can confirm that the 2009-10 disc does have TMC.

Regards,

Simon.
