Red face All our yesterdays

I've been told by SWMBO that I MUST sort out the boxes and boxes of photographs which are stored in every cupboard in the house. These are not just ours, but 'inherited' ones from our parents and all sorts of other sources.

Among the first batch I opened up, I found a couple photos of my misspent youth as a totally amateur rally driver. I though some of the more senior members might enjoy a look back to when cars were simple things.
The most complicated thing was getting ignition timing spot on - set it via a notch in the crankshaft pulley, and then fine adjust it by twisting the distributor right or left to advance or retard - until the engine note 'sounded right'
Interestingly, the car's two spotlights, Cibié Oscars, can I believe still be purchased in almost unchanged form today - and the photo is around 40 years old
I seem to remember they cost me about two weeks' wages

I seem to remember that my navigator (Johnnie Walker - or "Patience" as he was known 'cos he didn't have any ) and I developed our own matching uniforms of black trousers, black shoes and black rollneck sweaters. I also had a very fetching pair of stringback driving gloves

This photo is an excellent example of driving in accordance with the rules of the road:

.... note the adherence to the give way lines; the correct positioning on my own side of the road for taking a corner - or not, as the case may be

Together Forever

Lonely days are long
Twilight sings a song
All the happiness that used to be

Soon my eyes will close
Soon I'll find repose
And in dreams, you're always near to me

I'll see you in my dreams
And then I'll hold you in my dreams

SNAP - wedding and bunfight over - about to set off on honeymoon:-

The rally car ended up as a grasstrack car after we damaged it too badly rallying for it to be a legal road car

...... and NO, the 'hand on hip' pose doesn't mean a thing - although I do have to admit, the more I look at, the more I think
