R75 1800 Non Turbo Engine into MGF VVC
I have a 1998 MGF VVC that has a head problem and would like to know if I can use a R75 1800 non turbo engine by using the VVC units from the original engine. Will the non turbo unit fit directly into the MGF?

The difference between the standard and VVC engines is all in the heads and valves - so in your case not worth doing as it doesn't fix your head problem!
Unless of course you want to remap the ECU and change it from a VVC to a 135 of course. |

Could I use the head from the 1800 with the valve components from the VVC. The crankcase assembly of the VVC is ok.

No, VVC valves and ports are bigger and there are some other geometry differences too. Not to mention the different cam bearing sizes.

Would the 1800 turbo be an option?

No, that is mostly similar to the 1800 non-turbo head.
VVC heads are unique in the range - if yours needs replaced, the only option you've got if you want to retain the VVC is another VVC head. |

As VVC heads are somewhat more difficult to obtain ,if the above is the case have you thought about an engineering solution to recover you head and keep your car original Inserts can be fitted into the head which replace the damaged area around the fire ring area. It may not be the answer to your problems but may be another avenue worth an enquiry The company below carries out this work but most good machine shops should also capable of doing it http://modusengineservices.co.uk/k-series/ Last edited by TourerSteve; 9th June 2021 at 07:09.. |

Thanks Steve but the Modus re-engineering cannot be done on VVC heads.
