Default Intermitent Battery Light Problem

Hi all
I wonder if someone could help me with a recent problem my car has developed, its a rover 75 54 plate Diesel,65,000 miles.
Only this morning i noticed the battery light flicker a few times while driving to work.
Later today when i came to come home, the ignition lights came on but the car wouldnt start or click, tryed turn the key on and off 2/3 times and it just started no problem.
again intermitent battery light only now and again.
could this be a bad connection somewhere ?the battery terminals are fixed tight and no corrosion etc.
any ideas please
ta Julian
