My Virgin Media "up to 50 mbps" gives me a genuine 50 (+) if hard wired, and anywhere between 11 and 45 depending on how far away from the hub I am.
Upload speeds are rubbish whatever I try - but as I very rarely upload anything, it doesn't really matter. Virgin tell me I'm being upgraded to "up to 70mbps" in November - but still haven't told me whether that's FOC or at additional cost
