Can do it yourself. Either on the phone itself (software update option in the menu, it will download it when it's available, then prompt you), or via connecting to your PC using the Samsung Kies software (it will tell you when you connect if there is an upgrade available).

Of course you could get one of the custom ROMs, My S2 has been running ICS for a fair while now. ICS is already out for the Note, you can use the German ROM and set it to English, it works exactly the same.

As long as you update via Kies or via the option in the phone settings, you'll be fine. It's only if you root the phone and upload a non-official firmware that your warranty will be invalidated.
