This is a merged thread, so would require both OP's to request it to be closed?

Hi.
She was despised here in Scotland just like in the North of England. We got the poll tax first, had all the rest of the jibes and were generally treated like second class people. We are now spending a fortune on gas, electric, rail fares due to privatisation, all these should be under state control and not run for huge profits. Gordon was blamed for the recession but if Thatcher hadn't gone the way she did with the banks we would not be in the mess we are. I feel for her family though just like anyone who has had a bereavement.

Like her or loathe her, Mrs Thatcher left her mark and her time in power has polarised the country. This forum is not the place to debate the politics of her tenure, or her party. Judging by the number of PMs I have received and the request by the OP, there can be no other outcome than heated political argument by keeping the topic live. |
