I'm getting noise on more than one speaker, need to check if it is all of them. The noise is there when I turn the ignition to position one, and is present with the radio off. Something funny there.

I will start a new thread for my problem in due course.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I wonder if you guys can help me?

I recently acquired a 2003 MG ZT with factory fit highline nav.

But the sound is so flat :-(

I've just bought a HK Amp (XQK100310) and wondered what the best way to fit it into my ZT would be?

Do I really need the subs? I just want a little bass to my speakers. I've already fitted some nice JBLs, but the sound is just as poor :-(

I noticed when I had some of the dash out under the highline screen that there were 2 connectors unused and they had labels on them for "left" and "right" so I assumed these may be for the amp..... But reading this thread tells me that it should all be fitted in the boot....

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Tris.

Left and Right is nothing to do with the amp.

The HK system is better than standard - but a lot of work to fit. For pretty much no extra effort you could fit a "proper" amp and get more quality / control, especially if your combining it with aftermarket speakers.

Cheers for the info.

Cash is a little tight and I managed to get this HK amp for only £15

So I guess it's not worth messing around with?

Tristan, I did write a lengthy reply to your PM but as a non-subscribed member you only have a 5 message capacity to your inbox, and it's full so i can't send you it. £10 a year gets you 75 PMs and a load of other bits and bobs, discounts etc.

The connectors you need are from Simtek, you need the '070 Series Multilock' ones and the plugs you need are the 12 pin Male, and the 18 pin Male.

You can buy these here for the 12 pin: http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/product.ph.../?k=:::1593918

And the 18 pin plug here: http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/product.ph.../?k=:::1722694

These plugs come with the receptacles though you'll need to crimp them carefully, if you don't have the correct tool it's hard getting them to form the same square shape of the pin hole.
I didn't have the proper crimp tool so used small long-nosed pliers and got sore fingers.

The members pack includes a window sticker, tax disc holder, membership card and you also get numerous discounts from places like the 25% off at Euro Car Parts. It's well worth it. Plus we're all friendly and helpful
