One insurance company 'Adrian Flux' offers up to 15% discount for dash cams being installed - UK supplier. I did see that one of the dash cams also records data from both sides and the rear of the car using G-sensor technology for side impacts. Insurance companies love data!

I've had a cam in my car for 2 years now and have just changed it for the new front and rear ones. I think it's a great idea.

Only joking folks, our boys in blue are fine upstanding public servants and in no way are they the military branch of the inland revenue.

I fitted mine purely for capturing the last hour prior to any collision, just to prove my defense, should it be questioned by the other party. I know this will sound unusual these days, but I would also be prepared for it to be used if I was to blame. It would be nice if everybody could be relied upon to give honest testimony, but that is not the norm, so you need a little extra help. Of course, insurance companies actually encourage 'dishonesty' by making a condition of the policy, not to admit liability at the scene.
