Advice required...

I was wondering if any of our detailing experts have any tips for which products/methods for cleaning the top of the dash? What I mean is the black bit. It seems 'rubberised' and so attracts lint and fluff from the microfibre cloths I use. I've tried Stardrops but perhaps I need a different type of applicator. I've used old t-shirts cut up into rags but nothing seems to make the dash entirely dust free.

Any advice?

I use Sonus Cockpit Detailer for the interior of my 75 - http://tinyurl.com/3bl7ej Sonus recommends using a 'Professional applicator' to apply the detailer to interior surfaces - http://tinyurl.com/2pdjqm

The yellow side of the applicator is used for polishing & cleaning (for cleaning interior surfaces, I use Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner - http://tinyurl.com/3xlakl), while the black side is for applying wax or interior products. Being foam, it will not leave lint or fluff on the 'rubberised' finish.

Good to read that the Sonus Cockpit Detailer doesn't leave a greasy film either. Why do some car valetting companies use that awful greasy stuff??

Well, for all it's simplicity I use a sponge (one of those green-backed ones from Wilko's) and use the yellow-side dipped in a very mild solution of warm water and car shampoo. In fact, I use this on all the plastic/rubber surfaces inside the car as it removes grease/grime without leaving a shine. I then use regular furniture polish on me tree (aka walnut dashboard

) and then leather cleaner for my seats, steering wheel and gear stick. No complaints so far :lol:

I was a car valeter for a couple of years we used normal cleaning agents like for the rest of the interior but on the black part (the same prob on mondeo alfa 156) once it was clean and dry get a clean damp leather and give it a wipe to remove all the fluff from the dash.

I was just about to add same as Chris, wipe over with damp chamois. (Skin, not a live one)

Just as an added info, don't use anything that may put a shine on it as the reflections in the windscreen will be horrendous. Needs to remain matt.
