Question Extra Speaker?

Good Evening Everyone,
I have a 2005 Connoisseur Tourer and while tracing a problem with the headlight levelling discovered a speaker fitted behind the lighting module. It is around 80mm dia and mounted to the panel facing the drivers feet, but no sound comes from it. It is wired in and appears to be original. I have not looked on the passenger side for another yet.
I cannot find any mention of this in the service manual.
Any ideas what it would connect to as it does not appear to connect to the head unit?
Many thanks.
Alan.

Mine has perforations in the lower panel, ready to accept such a speaker. Check the interior light, you might find a microphone mounted inside it.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

My Facelift ZT has the speaker fitted. It's for the Smartnav system as far as I'm aware.

Thinking about this I think it is for the Smartnav. When I remember next I will press the button and listen to where the voice comes from. I had completely forgotten about Smartnav when I asked this question.

Are you sure, the beep comes from the IPK on later cars?
