Default Non Rover TDI problem

A friend of mine runs an old beater of a car (old VW Golf TDi) and the last few days he has noticed it is burning oil on boost.

This to me sounds like the turbo seals are allowing oil to seep past into the exhaust.

The problem is he cant get rid of the car for another 3 weeks is there a quick fix he can do to bypass the turbo completely?

Thoughts appreciated but please bear in mind the car is going to be scrapped - just not for another 3 weeks so it just needs to run til then...!
